Héctor A. Jaime Rodriguez (they/she/he) is a Two Spirit dance and multimedia artist from Mexicali, Baja California, México, and the Artistic and Executive Director of Xochipilli Dance Company in San Francisco. Their practice spans choreography, performance, projection mapping, film, installation, and experimental media, with Mexican cultural traditions embedded throughout their work.

Héctor earned a BFA in Dance from the Alonzo King’s LINES Ballet Program at Dominican University of California after foundational training at the Centro Estatal de las Artes in Mexicali. Their professional experience spans contemporary ballet, choreography, performance, teaching, production, film, and multimedia design. Movement remains the foundation of their practice. Héctor works with the body as a site where technique and trance meet, using ritual to inform composition and carry cultural forms into contemporary performance.

In 2022, Héctor founded Xochipilli Dance Company. Under their direction, the company has developed contemporary dance and interdisciplinary performance throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. Their choreographic work includes Vínculo Nahual, Santuario, Bones, Sea of Love, Lilac, Insecta, DIRT, Maniac, and Immersive Improv. Their work has been presented at Dance Mission Theater, Studio 210, the San Francisco LGBTQ+ Center, the Conservatory of Flowers, and through the Festival of Latin American Contemporary Choreographers and FACT/SF Fieldwork.

Their professional experience also includes performance and film work with Bay Area artists and organizations, including participation in KQED’s Emmy Award winning If Cities Could Dance. Héctor has participated in artist development and residency programs with Studio 210, BASE through PUSH Dance Company, iMPACt Genesis, and Dancing Earth. They also maintain an active teaching practice across foundational and advanced dance training.

Héctor’s artistic work has received support from the MAP Fund, the Kenneth Rainin Foundation’s NEW Program, Dancers’ Group CA$H Grant, Center for Cultural Innovation, and the BAAITS Two Spirit and Indigiqueer Artist and Cultural Bearer Mini Grant.
